Please see the separate screen (Information > Studio Group > Programme) for our programme of sessions.
The Studio Group is open to all members. A variety of subjects are organised such as male and female portraiture, character studies, figure (artistic nude), musicians, dancers and still life. For figure sessions we use professional models; amateur models are used for portraiture.
The Group uses an extensive studio flash system with a variety of backdrops, and members are encouraged to bring props to express their own individual style and creative flair. New members are given every encouragement and assistance by experienced members on the evenings.
Any member wishing to attend a Studio Group session should book a place in advance with Rob Harley.
For practical reasons, the number attending each session has to be limited to 6 photographers. Those members unable to book a place on one session will be given preference when booking for a later session. This also means that, when a member confirms a booking, the member is giving his or her firm commitment to attend (or find a substitute member).
The fee payable for the session will depend on any charge made by the model and on the number of members attending. Each photographer gives amateur models six 7" x 5" prints in exchange for their time.
Members attending a session should try to arrive by 6:00 pm, but no later than 6:30 pm, to help set up the equipment for a 7:00 pm start. This should give everyone a reasonable amount of time for photography. Sessions normally end at 10:00pm, when the equipment has to be taken down and put away. This does not take long if everybody helps!
